"Sparky" Continues

Back | Subscribe

"Sparky and the Fitz" is off to a great start, and now is your chance to see the critically acclaimed performances of ER's Ellen Crawford and Mike Genovese.

In this edition of Interplayers' award-winning e-Newsletter, see what one critic is saying about Ellen and Mike's performance, find out where you can see and talk to Ellen and Mike while they're here in Spokane, purchase some tickets, and test your knowledge about freeway traffic management!

Review
The Spokesman-Review on Ellen and Michael's performance:

  • Ellen Crawford and Michael Genovese, L.A. actors familiar from "E.R.," delivered totally professional, fast-paced performances as the old married couple. They earned plenty of genuine laughs with their Bickersons-like quibbling and sniping.
  • Crawford and Genovese, seasoned theatrical troupers, perform a virtual seminar in brisk comic pacing. They delivered their lines in a rat-a-tat rhythm that allowed no energy to leak away in hesitation or awkward pauses. They picked up their cues instantly, listening to each other's lines and reacting immediately.
  • Crawford, as Fitz, used her whole body - arms flying in the air - to convey a sense of Fitz as a dynamo, a go-getter, a real spark plug. Maybe she should be been nicknamed Sparky.
  • Genovese, as Sparky, adopted an almost Groucho-like comic shuffle as he raced around the living room, an old codger on the warpath against cockroaches, interlopers and, finally, against Fitz.

Personal Appearances
Ellen Crawford and Mike Genovese are making personal appearances while they visit our fine city. Don't miss your chance to meet with these two veteran performers of stage and screen!

  • Following tonight's performance of "Sparky and the Fitz," participate in a "talk back" with Ellen, Mike, and Craig Volk; and
  • On Saturday, May 19, please don't come to Interplayers. (I can't believe I just said that, but...we're closed!) But you can still see Ellen and Mike in the 69th Annual Spokane Lilac Festival Armed Forces Torchlight Parade!

Due to the Lilac parade on Saturday night, we have scheduled a special showing of "Sparky and the Fitz" on Sunday, May 20, at 2 pm.  Come spend the afternoon with us!

Did You Know?
It's still easy to get downtown! Even though the freeway is under construction, you can still get to Interplayers Theater. If you're coming from the west, the Maple Street Exit is still open. If you're coming from the east, you have the choice of Thor/Freya (take Sprague in), 2nd Avenue, Hamilton (take Spokane Falls Boulevard in), or Division Street (although, that may be more congested than usual).
