Interplayers announces the next reading stage production of Love Letters by A. R. Gurney. The Readers Theatre will be performed by two actors who appeared together last as the married-on-stage Italian grandparents known as Nunzio and Emma in the Interplayers’ beloved 1999 production of Over the River and Through the Woods. John Oswald and Ann Russell Whiteman return to perform this love story for seven performances, February 13 – 18th. Rated PG 13.

The Play and Cast

Love Letters, is the witty, sometimes waspish, life-long correspondence between two independent bright souls whose love for each other survives the ravages and graces of puberty, collegiate educations, marriage and divergent careers in art and politics. A. R. Gurney captures romance dancing with blunt critique and reveals the eloquence of the spiritual trust of entwined souls. This truly is a story for hearts that can read between the lines. This 1989 script was one of three nominations for the 1990 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.  A. R. Gurney, a prolific American playwright and novelist, is best known for Sylvia, The Cocktail Hour, The Dining Room and The Golden Age.
